The
Timberland
Investor
Zach Lowry forged his early career in the frigid cold of northern Maine, working as a forester for some of the largest private landowners in the country, later branching out to explore forests as southern as Oaxaca, Mexico and as western as California. After seeing the shortcomings of the industry and difficulties had by small landowners, he started The Timberland Investor to be a one-stop resource and intellectual nexus for forest landowners across the country and world using his expertise as both a professional forester and landowner himself.
It is our mission to demystify the complicated world of forest management for landowners like you. We strive to give you the best, most accurate and up-to-date information available with articles, books, and courses so you can make the best decisions possible for the future of your land, forest, and finances.

What is a Timberland “Investor?”
To some, the concept of investment and forest management are contradictory or at least at odds. To them, forest management is about long-term care, and investment is about short-term profit. It’s an understandable misconception, considering stereotypes realities of the financial sector. Nonetheless, we believe an investor is anyone who allocates resources now for the betterment of the future, much in the way one can “invest” in their children or “invest” in exploring a new hobby. In this sense, we are strong proponents of timberland investment, regardless of the form.
A timberland investor can be a large landowner looking to maximize their ROI on a multi-million dollar property, or a timberland investor can be a family living on five acres of forest, carefully eliminating a patch of invasives to ensure the long-term health of their land. Regardless of your style of investment, we are here to help.
