Zachary Lowry

Owner of The Timberland Investor
Zach is a former professional forester with hands-on experience managing large-scale timberland operations across the northeastern United States. After years working in the woods, he turned his industry knowledge into a mission: giving private landowners access to the same tools and information that timber companies have always kept to themselves.

He founded The Timberland Investor as the most comprehensive online resource for private forest landowners — and has since expanded it into something far beyond a content platform. With the integration of SilviCultural, The Timberland Investor now combines the most detailed timber stumpage price data available anywhere with a full-featured mapping and forest inventory suite, including satellite imagery, LiDAR analysis, canopy data, and property boundary tools — everything a landowner needs to actually understand and manage their land.

Zach is also the author of three books: How to Sell Your Timber Without Ruining Your Land, a practical guide to navigating timber sales without getting taken advantage of; Empty Homes and Silent Saws, an analysis of the structural forces reshaping the North American lumber industry; and How to Read Your Forest, a field guide to understanding what’s actually growing on your land.
His work sits at the intersection of forestry expertise, data, and advocacy — built on the belief that informed landowners make better decisions for their forests, their families, and their communities.
